Dr. Mirrlees Chassels retired from motor racing after his accident in the single seater Fraser Nash.
He went along to the very first Bo'ness in 2008 and 'opened' the Hill to competition but he was very frail by that point and passed away later that year.
The Chassels Cup below, presented by his family back in 2008, is awarded each year at Bo'ness to the fastest pre-1953 car.
In sterling silver, Mirrlees won this cup for a rally back in 1938 whilst studying medicine.

Reg Parnell won with #53 the BRM Type 15 in the Turnberry Scottish Daily Express National Trophy Formula Libre race follow LINK for photos and report from 1952 in the book BRM V16 In Camera.
In a remarkable post script to the countless stories written over seven decades about this car, the 2021 Goodwood Revival saw a brand new continuation car running on the circuit. Being built by BRM's technical partners Hall and Hall, three ‘new’ P15 V16 BRMs have been made possible by the discovery of three unused chassis numbers which were originally allocated to the racing programme, but never built due to a change in the Formula 1 technical regulations at the time. This first car was commissioned by John Owen, the 81-year-old son of BRM’s original owner, the renowned industrialist, Sir Alfred Owen.

JUNE 2022: Kenneth McAlpine drove his Connaught #31 to second place here in race 3 (car alongside ERA #8 on this grid). On 17th July 1952 he took part in the British Grand Prix driving a Connaught A. Prior to this as a keen amateur racer whilst being a partner in Sir Robert McAlpine & Sons he became "Proprietor" of the Connaught company and as the man who put up the money he became effectively the No. 1 driver. Recently deceased Kenneth McAlpine OBE DL (1920-2023) was the oldest living person at 102 years old who participated in Formula One Grand Prix races. Whilst I cannot explain the family lineage here, Sir Andrew McAlpine entered the 2022 Sir Jackie Stewart Classic Sprint at Thirlestane Castle.
